How do I make a reservation?

What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM in our Gift Shop. Check-out is at 11:00 AM.
What if I am arriving after check-in hours?
If you need to check-in after hours, please make sure you make arrangements PRIOR to your arrival. After 5:00pm our employees are going home for the day and there will be nobody present to check you in. If you need to contact someone for after hours check-in please call 216.298.4919 x1019.
Are either of the houses handicap accessible?
Yes, the Hound Dog Haven Suite on the first floor of The Bumpus House is handicap accessible and has an accessible shower.
How many stairs are there to climb to get to the loft of A Christmas Story House and Bumpus House Stolen Turkey Suite?
A Christmas Story House has a total of 32 stairs to reach the third floor loft. 4 outside stairs. 15 inside stairs with hand rails to reach the second floor kitchen area. 13 inside stairs with a middle landing and hand rails to reach the third floor loft from the kitchen. The Bumpus House Hound Dog Haven Suite has ramp two step on the front porch and ramp access in the back. The Bumpus House Stolen Turkey Suite has 18 interior stairs to reach the second floor. There are additional spiral stairs on the second floor to reach the third floor.
Do you offer late check-out?
Yes, when available. For those staying in A Christmas Story House, you must be out of the public portion of the house by 9:00 AM. You can continue to enjoy the loft area until 11:00 AM. Late check-out may be available if there is no reservation for your room that evening. If you have a late flight to catch and would like to explore the city one last time before your flight, you are also welcome to leave your baggage with us for the day until 5:00 PM.
Is there a minimum stay requirement?
There is no minimum stay requirement unless we will be closed for a holiday in which case there is a two night minimum stay. If you rent on holiday occasions when A Christmas Story House is closed you will have use of the entire house all day.
How many people can spend the night at one time?
A Christmas Story House guest occupancy is limited to six people. There is one queen bed, a queen sleeper sofa and two twin beds. The Bumpus House Hound Dog Haven Suite guest occupancy is limited to four people. There is one queen bed and two bunk beds. The Bumpus House Stolen Turkey Suite guest occupancy is limited to six people. There are two queen bed (on the second floor) and two twin beds (on the third floor). A Pack ‘n Play is available for babies and toddlers upon request. No additional guests are allowed on property at any time without prior approval. No sleeping bags, air mattresses or cots can be brought into the rooms.
Is admission to A Christmas Story House & Museum included with my stay?
For guests staying in A Christmas Story House admission to the public tour is provided for the number of quests staying over night up to the occupancy limit. For guests staying in The Bumpus House admission is NOT included.
Does my baby or toddler count as one of the six people for the occupancy limit?
No. Children under 4 do not count toward the occupancy limit. A Pack ‘n Play is available for babies and toddlers upon request.
Can I invite additional people over to the House while I am staying there?
Prior approval is required before any additional guests can visit the property. If you wish to have guests please advise us ahead of time so that we may consider your request. Additional guests are not permitted to spend the night.
Is the nightly rate per person or for my entire group?
The nightly rate is for your entire group.
Is there the possibility that someone else will be staying in the house at the same time?
A Christmas Story House a single rental guests get the entire house to themselves. The Bumpus House has two separate up and downstairs suites. If you rent both suites of The Bumpus House there is an inside access door with join both suites if its is unlocked from both sides.
Is there a TV in the house so I can watch A Christmas Story?
Yes. There is a TV in the loft of A Christmas Story House and TVs in both suites of The Bumpus House. TVs are equipped with cable TV and a DVD player and copies of several Christmas movies.
Is there a microwave and refrigerator?
Yes. All accommodations have a microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker. Additionally, the kitchen in A Christmas Story House loft has a full size stove and oven.
Can I bring my pet?
No. We regret that we are not able to permit pets of any kind, as some guests may be allergic to them. We do welcome service animals for those guests with physical disabilities.
Is smoking allowed?
No. We are a smoke free establishment.
Are candle or incense allowed?
No. Open flames are not permitted.
Is there a grill available or can we bring our own?
No. Grilling is not permitted.
Can I go into the basement A Christmas Story House to check out the furnace?
No. The basement is used for storage and off limits to guests.
Where do I park?
Parking is provide in the lot between A Christmas Story House and The Bumpus House.
Are there security cameras?
Yes. There are security cameras inside and outside A Christmas Story House. The inside cameras are in the areas used for daily public tours. The Bumpus House has only outside security cameras.
Do you offer a military discount?
Not of over night rentals. We do offer discounts on admission tickets.
