Additional Important Information
Digital Tickets & Admission
All admission tickets are digital. Buy tickets right here on this page using the green ticket widget above, or in person on the day of your visit at the Gift Shop.
We strongly recommend buying tickets in advance. Tours often sell out, and we can’t predict which days or tour times will fill up.
Each admission ticket includes entry to both the House from A Christmas Story and the Museum across the street.
If you arrive without a ticket, find one of our tour signs on site and scan the QR code to buy tickets on your phone, or visit the Gift Shop.
Paper Tickets Are No Longer Accepted
We no longer accept paper tickets of any kind. Paper tickets bought before 2024 are not valid. Some paper tickets issued in early 2024 had an expiration date printed on them, but the latest of those dates was January 2026, so all paper tickets have now expired. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Guided & Self-Guided Tours
Guided tours run every day, except on select dates in November and December, which are self-guided tour days. To see those dates, start a ticket purchase. They appear on the ticket calendar after the customer details screen.
Arrival & Late Policy
Guided tours start promptly at their scheduled time. Please arrive at the House from A Christmas Story 10 minutes before your tour time. Late arrivals cannot join a tour already in progress. If you miss your tour time, please see an associate at the register in the Gift Shop, and we’ll do our best to fit you onto the next available tour. Space on later tours is not guaranteed.
Photos, Video & Live Streaming
Photos are welcome at any time during your tour. Please do not use flash photography in the Museum. This helps protect and preserve our props and artifacts.
Video recording and live streaming are not allowed during guided tours. This includes cell phones, GoPros and action cameras, smart glasses such as Meta glasses, video camcorders, and any other recording device. Recording disrupts the tour for other guests. We reserve the right to remove guests who do not comply, without a refund. You’re welcome to record outside the guided tour.
Rent a Bunny Suit!
Stop by the Gift Shop before your tour time to rent a bunny suit for $10. Wear it on your tour, take the photos, and make the memories.
Cancellation & Refund Policy
- 3 weeks or more before your visit: full refund.
- Within 3 weeks of your visit: 50% refund.
- Missed tours or unused tickets: 50% refund if requested within 30 days of your tour date.
The following are not eligible for a refund:
- Cancellations or refund requests made more than 30 days after your reservation date
- Tickets that have already been used
- Guests who leave a tour early
- Guests removed for not following tour policies
The service fee is non-refundable in all cases.
Plans change, so we recommend booking with a credit card that offers trip protection or buying travel insurance to cover unexpected cancellations. We’re a small business, and cancellations affect us greatly. Thank you for your understanding and for coming to see us!

Closures
The House from A Christmas Story, Museum and Gift Shop are closed on New Year’s Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. We are also closed the last 2 full weeks of February for yearly maintenance.
Group Tours
Groups of all sizes are welcome at the House from A Christmas Story. Our standard ticket, arrival, photo/recording, and cancellation and refund policies apply to all group bookings.
January – October
Groups can buy tickets online just like regular guests, using the green ticket widget on this page.
- All group bookings must be made with a valid credit card.
- Groups larger than 40 guests (including drivers, chaperones, etc.) should split into equal groups and book consecutive tour times.
November – December (Holiday Season)
Private group tours are not available during the holiday season. Some dates are guided tour days, and others are self-guided tour days. You’ll see which type of tour applies when you pick a date on the ticket calendar.
Guided Tour Days
- Buy tickets online in advance for available tour times.
- Groups larger than 40 must split into equal groups and book consecutive tour times.
- Tours last about 45–50 minutes.
- Groups should arrive 15–20 minutes early to allow time for unloading and gathering.
- Ticket scanning at the House begins 5 minutes before your scheduled tour time.
- Tours start promptly. Late arrivals cannot join a tour already in progress. We’ll do our best to fit late arrivals onto the next available tour, but space is not guaranteed.
Self-Guided Tour Days
- Buy tickets online in advance.
- Entry times are not guaranteed. If there is a line, your selected time holds your place in it.
- No more than 40 guests are allowed inside the House at one time.
- Groups larger than 40 must split up and should not expect to enter or tour together.
- If there is a line, all guests, including groups, wait like regular visitors.
Planning Your Group Visit
- For self-guided days, plan on 2–3 hours to enjoy the House, Museum, and Gift Shop.
- The House, Museum, and Gift Shop are all close together, within easy walking distance.
- Public restrooms are inside the Gift Shop.
- Parking is available on surrounding public streets. We do not offer reserved parking for buses or large vehicles.

- The Bumpus House: Ramps provide access to the first floor only (Hound Dog Haven).
- The Museum: Single floor. There are 4 steps up to the front porch to enter and 3 steps down from the back porch to exit. There is no ramp.
Accessible Parking
- Accessible parking is available in the lot between the House and the Bumpus House.
Restrooms
- The Gift Shop has unisex, accessible restrooms suitable for companion or family use.
Hearing & Vision Accommodations
- Hearing: A printed tour binder is available at the Gift Shop for guests who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Vision: A large-print version of the tour (20-point Arial font) is available for guests with low vision.
Ask for either one at the Gift Shop register before your tour.
Line Accommodations (Self-Guided Days)
If there is a line to enter the House on a self-guided day:
- Guests with disabilities do not need to wait in the regular line.
- We’ll assign you an entry time based on the current wait.
- At that time, you and up to 3 companions can enter through an alternate entrance.
