It is the responsibility of our guests at the time of booking to consider these policies. Please be sure of your dates and travel plans before booking. Once we have committed to hold a room for you, we turn other inquiries away. Due to the intimate size of our establishment, any cancellations greatly affect us. For additional details please see below. We appreciate your understanding.

Booking, Rates & Cancellation Policies
It is the responsibility of our guests at the time of booking to consider these policies. Please be sure of your dates and travel plans before booking. Once we have committed to hold a room for you, we turn other inquiries away. Due to the intimate size of our establishment, any cancellations greatly affect us. We appreciate your understanding.
Payments
All reservations must be secured with a valid credit card. We accept MasterCard, Visa, American Express, and Discover.
Reservation Deposit:
To ease the check-in process the full amount of your stay will be charged to your credit card at the time of booking. You will still need to provide a credit card at check in to cover any incidentals and damages.
Cancellations, Rescheduling & Refunds:
- More than 14 Days Before Arrival: Refunds will be issued minus a $50 processing fee and 10% re-booking fee.
- Within 14 Days of Arrival: Refunds, minus the same fees, will only be issued if we are able to re-book the room. If the room is not re-booked, the full payment will be forfeited.
- No-Shows: Guests who do not arrive and do not cancel will be charged for the entire stay, and payments may not be applied to future bookings.
Unforeseen Events:
Occasionally, unexpected circumstances beyond anyone’s control may affect travel plans. These may include severe weather, natural disasters, health emergencies, pandemics, government restrictions, or utility outages. In such cases, we cannot be held responsible for cancellations, delays, or changes. Please note this does not cover personal financial situations. Because we are a small establishment, cancellations or changes greatly affect us. For this reason, we recommend considering trip cancellation insurance.
Late Arrivals & Early Departures:
Guests are responsible for payment of all nights reserved regardless of actual arrival or departure date. If you change your reservation within fourteen days of arrival, refunds are not guaranteed.
Room Rates: Rates are quoted per night excluding applicable room taxes and cleaning fee.
Late Bookings:
Bookings made within 48 hours of stay must be made by phone or in person. Otherwise, we encourage you to make your reservation online.
Check-In & Check-Out
Credit Card and ID:
A valid credit card and photo ID are required upon check-in.
Check-In Time:
3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. We may be able to check you in early if your room is ready.
Late Check-Ins:
From 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, please call our Gift Shop at 216-298-4919. After hours, please call 216-202-5197. At check-in you will complete a damages/incidentals form. If you are arriving late, we will email this form in advance for you to complete prior to arrival.
Check-Out Time:
House from A Christmas Story Loft Guests: You must vacate the public portion of the house by 9:00 AM, though you may remain in the loft until 11:00 AM. Late check-out may be available if there is no reservation for your room that evening. Guests with late flights are welcome to leave luggage with us until 5:00 PM.
Parking:
- Bumpus House Suites: Parking is located behind the Bumpus House in the two spots signed Reserved for Bumpus Guests.
- House from A Christmas Story Loft: Parking is located in the Bumpus Parking lot, there is a parking spot with a sign Reserved for House from A Christmas Story Loft Guests.

Rates and policies are subject to change at any time and may vary during seasonal periods and special events.
Right to Refuse Service:
Our establishment is privately owned and operated. Management reserves the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason.
Use of Public Space:
Loft guests may use the public space outside of the loft from one hour after close until 9:00 AM. Guests must vacate the public space each morning by 9:00 AM so staff can prepare for tours. (Extended hours may apply during holidays; check with the Gift Shop at 216-298-4919.)
Tours & Admission:
- Loft Guests: Tour admission is included. Please confirm your preferred tour time with an associate at checkin. Extended hours are listed on our website.
- Bumpus House Guests: Tour admission is not included. Tickets may be purchased directly on our website, and will be emailed to you.
Visitor Policy:
Rates are only for the number of registered guests. No additional guests are allowed without prior approval. Sleeping bags, air mattresses, or cots are not permitted. Violations will result in a $200 fee per extra guest per occurrence.
Pets and Animals:
We love pets, but regret that we are not able to permit pets of any kind, as some guests may be allergic to them. Guests bringing pets into the rooms will be asked to leave immediately and be charged a minimum $200 fee to return any room to a pet free status.
Service Animals are welcome with proper documentation.
Smoking & Candle Burning
There is no smoking (this includes vaping or any other form of tobacco) allowed anywhere on the property. For the safety and comfort of all our guests, we do not allow smoking or incense/candle burning in any of our guest rooms, porches or on any of the grounds. If there is any evidence of smoke detected in your room or any part of the property, you will be asked to leave immediately and be charged a minimum $200 fee to return any room to a non-smoking status.
Damages and Missing Items
Any damages, stains, missing items, or broken items occurring during the stay will be the full financial responsibility of the guest, including anyone traveling with the guest. Any special clean-up resulting from damages caused by the guests will be charged to the credit card on file. Charges may need to be applied after guest departure as deemed necessary by the management. Please report all spills and/or damages to management promptly.
Items Left Behind
If you leave something behind, please contact us and we will be happy to ship it back to you at a cost plus a $10 handling fee.

Parking is provided in either of our two parking lots
Security Cameras
Please be aware that there are cameras for security purposes only in various locations of the touring portion of both houses. There are NO cameras in the loft space of A Christmas Story House nor inside The Bumpus House.
