The House from A Christmas Story Unveils The Bumpus House for Overnight Stays
CLEVELAND – October 8, 2018 – The House from A Christmas Story is excited to announce the opening of its newest attraction, The Bumpus House, now available for overnight stays! Fans can make reservations at www.HouseFromAChristmasStory.com/Spend-The-Night.
Located at 3153 W. 11th Street, right next to Ralphie Parker’s family home, The Bumpus House is known to fans as the home of Ralphie’s quirky hillbilly neighbors, the Bumpuses, and their infamous 785 smelly hound dogs. These mischievous dogs are well-remembered for their antics, including harassing Ralphie’s Old Man and stealing the Christmas turkey.
The Bumpus House offers two distinct accommodations: the “Hound Dog Haven” suite on the first floor, which sleeps up to four guests, and the “Stolen Turkey” suite, spanning the second and third floors, which sleeps up to six guests. For larger groups, the entire house can be rented, with a connecting door on the first floor providing seamless access between suites. Rates start at $195 per night. The first-floor suite is handicap accessible, featuring ramp access and interior accommodations designed for ease of use. The decor of The Bumpus House is a charming blend of vintage eclectic and 1940s style, with a playful hillbilly flair that complements modern amenities.
Since the launch of overnight rentals at The House from A Christmas Story in June 2017, the experience has become a hit with both local and out-of-town guests. “We are thrilled to offer our visitors additional lodging options with the opening of The Bumpus House,” said Brian Jones, owner of The House from A Christmas Story. “Stays at the House from A Christmas Story are almost fully booked for the season, so we encourage fans to reserve their nights at The Bumpus House now for a unique experience.”
The Bumpus House was previously owned by Joyce Seagro, who lived there during the filming of A Christmas Story and its sequel My Summer Story, the latter of which featured the house as the Bumpus family home.
In addition to The Bumpus House, The House from A Christmas Story has also added a new official parking lot. The yard of The Bumpus House had previously served as a makeshift parking area for visitors. After several years of planning, a new free parking lot with space for 17 cars, including one designated handicapped spot, is now available to visitors. Combined with six existing spaces across the street, there are now 23 off-street parking spots.
“With the House from A Christmas Story being located in a residential neighborhood, parking has always been a challenge we aimed to address,” said Jones. “The new parking lot provides a convenient solution for our guests.”
